New Look To-Done!

I just wanted to take a moment to announce the new redesigned To-Done.

When I launched this site, about two months ago now, I launched it with a nice, clean, yet somewhat hurried design. In the spirit of “getting real” I just wanted to get to what matters most to me — the content. It’s actually a great GTD story. I took this site from idea to launch in less than a day, and on about five hours of work! Not to shabby.

In any case, I felt I needed a redesign, but I also knew I had too much going on to get it finished as quickly as I’d have liked, let alone do it any sort of justice. So, I turned to my 9rules buddies, Mike Rundle and Colin Devroe to see if they could help.

They were most helpful! And did a wonderful job. Mike with his design skills and Colin with his Ninja WordPress hacking talents. Many thanks fellas.

So, enjoy the new look and while your at it, check out my fancy new About page!

Very nice Keith! Looking forward to visiting the page now instead of just reading everything through RSS. :)

  2. Before I even read the post I looked at it and said “Rundle.” And even though its not my color it is looking pretty pimp. Perhaps a baby blue but that shows dirt on the shoulders too easily.

Nevertheless I think you just made some content for me.

Ryan — The color is my doing. I told him to keep it. Red says “checked off” to me. I also made some minor edits after he was done. Can’t expect a designer to change nothing. LOL.

Love the new design – always had problems reading the old with the rh column overlapping the main content (which I really enjoy, BTW).

    made my day :-)

  5. Great design, congratulations! I am not too fond of the pinkish color, but I’ll guess I’ll just have to learn to live with it.

Just one thing I’d really change if I were you is the 9rules logo. It’s background color is white but the column’s background color is grey. Seems odd to me.

  6. Nicely redesigned, kudo’s to all involved with helping. All these redesigns lately makes me not want to use Bloglines as much so I can take advantage of the new sites!
A small aside: In IE on a PC your main nav makes your “About To-Done” blurb jump a pixel up and down on rollover since on hover you add a bottom border to the button. No biggie though.
    Best,
    Steve

Gordon – Sorry about that, I never knew it was doing that. I tested it quite a bit, just never saw that behavior.

Jacob – Pink is the new…pink.

steve – I’ll try an fix that. It’s funny because the way it’s coded is totally different from the way I code sites. I can get around it, but it’s strange to me.

  8. ooo, great use of those fancy schmancy pixel icons!

  9. Holy Tamoli! I’m not sure if that word even exists but it was the first thing that came out of my mouth when I saw this new look. It’s amazing Keith. Simply Beautiful. Awesome work by you and the 9rules guys.

Ryan: I said the exact same thing. Nice redesign, though, Keith.

  11. Ooh! Pretty!

Question: can you put a link to the RSS feed of your del.icio.us links? I can’t seem to find it anywhere, and I’d like to subscribe. Thanks.

  12. I like it. Well done and well done on the site in general — very good idea.

  13. Very nice redesign and didn’t realise you were from Seattle…nice to see another Western Washingtonian around. You know, for all the Microsofties and other assorted tech people in our area, not many seem to blog. Or at least, I never find them.

  14. Well, despite my being of the female persuasion, I’m not too fond of the color pink – however, I believe this pink(ish) color will grow on me :)

Aside from that, new design is very pimperish and that is one spiffy new about page.

  15. Site looks pretty sweet and modern. Everyone knows pink IS the new black.
